Promising Kannada Actor Nagabhushana Detained After Tragic Collision in Bengaluru

On a Saturday night in Bengaluru, Kannada star Nagabhushana reportedly collided with a couple as they walked along the footpath. Tragically, the woman succumbed to her injuries shortly after the incident, while the man is currently undergoing surgery.

The incident occurred at 9:45 pm on Vasantha Pura main road, where Nagabhushana was traveling from Uttarahalli to Konanakunte. Allegedly, he struck the couple and then collided with an electric pole. Following the accident, Nagabhushana took the injured couple to the hospital.

An FIR has been filed at the Kumarswamy Layout Traffic police station, charging the actor under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others), and 304(A) (causing death by negligence). The victim, identified as 48-year-old Prema, lost her life during transit, while the 58-year-old man, Krishna, sustained injuries to his legs, head, and stomach.

The actor has been arrested, as reported by PTI. The couple’s son filed a complaint, alleging that Nagabhushana struck his parents while they were walking on the footpath. In his statement, the actor claimed that the couple suddenly stepped from the footpath onto the road, catching him unaware.

Who is Nagabhushana?

Nagabhushana is predominantly recognized for his appearances in comic and supporting roles in various film projects. He joined GPIER, an amateur theatre group established by the renowned Rangayana artist Mime Ramesh, as he decided to venture into the realm of acting.

Collaborating with college buddies, Nagabhushan co-founded the YouTube channel “Karnataka Entertainment Board” in 2016. The channel serves as a platform to address socially pertinent issues through a humorous lens. Nagabhushan has not only acted in numerous episodes but has also taken on roles in directing and scripting content for the channel.

He marked his debut into the film industry with the Kannada movie “Badmaash” in 2016. Subsequently, he took on a more substantial role as Likith Shetty’s friend in “Sankashta Kara Ganapathi” (2018). His noteworthy performance in the critically acclaimed film “Ikkat” earned him recognition at the 10th South Indian International Movie Awards, where he was honored as the Best Debutant Actor in the Kannada category.
